Unakite is sometimes called Epidotised Granite, as it is formed when granite (an igneous rock) is metamorphosized , less resistant minerals are replaced by others. One of these is Epidote, which forms the green, and another is pink orthoclase. These leave their gorgeous mix of colours in the stone.  These colours are also said to represent the love and harmony between mother and child, and the stone is often used to enhance fertility, ease pregnancy and birthing and give strength to the unborn and new child.
